Important things to know when doing research

 The hardest thing while doing research is finding accurate websites. Most of the times when I do research I don’t find the author but the information I find seems really accurate. Anonymous authors of websites make the web page/ topic less accredited. Another thing that’s very important to know when doing research is finding out whether the website is a true fact based website or a website where everyone can post their ideas and the author and the publisher are unknown. Personally, I believe that   when there’s no author; the reliability of source decreases and we can’t trust it so we should always look for a source that has an author.

The library research class helped me a lot with doing research and looking at the websites and figuring out whether a website is credible or not.  The class also helped me find more resources other than Google such as: ask Colorado.com, Medline plus, and New York Times. I had never been to these websites before except New York Times but I didn’t know they had a health part. The health component of the New York Times is very convenient and useful for medical information. The course gave me a lot of research tips but it would’ve helped more if we were looking at more websites like askcolorado.com and other databases. Databases where we could look up controversial topics and do research about them. Over all I liked how the course was organized. It increased my research knowledge and taught me more about plagiarism.
